SNOW REMOVAL POLICY
City of Tomah Code of Ordinances-Section 38-30. SNOW AND ICE SHALL BE REMOVED THEREFROM WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER ANY STORM. If snow and ice is not removed within 24 hours, a written notice will be posted on the property allowing an additional 24 hours, after which the City shall then cause the snow and ice to be removed from the sidewalk and report the cost ($1 per foot plus $75 fee) in writing to the Clerk in the manner provided in S.S. 66.615(5), Wis. Stats. Such charge shall be entered in the tax roll as a special tax to be collected in the same manner as other taxes.
The City shall be responsible for the snow and ice removal from all sidewalks more than 25 feet from the lot line of the adjacent property”.
On corner lots it is the responsibility of the property owner to remove snow and/or ice from the radius (handicap ramp) as well as the sidewalk. The radius must be clear to allow easy access from the sidewalk to the street.
Do not deposit snow into the public right of way. If snow is deposited onto the street, sidewalk, alley, parkway or public place, a citation shall be issued and/or it shall be removed and billed to the property owner, in accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 346.94(5).
