Press Release: Appointment of Interim City Clerk

As the Mayor of the City of Tomah, and while acting as the Chief Executive Officer of the City as stated in reference 1, I do hereby appoint the Chief Deputy Clerk, Nicole Jacobs, to the position of Interim City Clerk. This appointment is made with the authority invested in the Mayor by the State of Wisconsin in Wisconsin State Statute 62.09, sub paragraph 3, part b, item 1, "The other officers except as provided in s. 62.13 shall be selected by one of the following methods: 1. Appointment by the mayor." Additionally, the selection of Nicole Jacobs as the Interim City Clerk is in accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 62.09, sub paragraph 11, "The clerk may in writing filed in the clerk's office appoint a deputy, who shall act under the clerk's direction, and in the clerk's absence or disability or in case of a vacancy shall perform the clerk's duties, and shall have power to administer oaths and affirmations." The City Attorney has been consulted with respect to these statutes. This appointment is to take effect on 3 May 2025, the day after the official termination date of the current City Clerk. It is to remain in effect until such time that the Common Council of the City exercises their statutory authority to select a permanent City Clerk and that person begins their first day of employment in said position. I direct all department heads and those employees of a lesser grade to render appropriate compliance and professional courtesy to the Interim City Clerk as is due to the position of City Clerk. The point of contact for this matter is the Chairperson of the Senior Executive Team, Nicholas M.
